One million bones is a national social art experience to create an awareness of genocide. Students were educated on what genocide is and how it continues today. Students participated in this event by creating bones to be exhibited at the National Mall in Washington DC. Why bones? It is common among all mankind and once noted a responsibility to care for others is established. Exhibiting the bones creates an awareness difficult to ignore. I'm looking for a venue to install the students bones locally before sending to the National Mall. The national exhibit will be in June 2013. Check the onemillionbones.com website for more information. I managed to get the Leslie Powell Gallery to exhibit our student bones. I was fortunate enough to travel to D.C. and help with the installation of the bones.
